Open Publishing LMU

With its Open Publishing LMU service, the University Library enables all LMU members to publish their research results in both print and electronic formats. The publications are professionally typeset, printing and distributing are handled by a publishing service provider, and the electronic edition is published under a CC BY 4.0 or CC BY-SA 4.0 license on Open Publishing LMU and the repository “Open Access LMU” or “Electronic University Publications of LMU Munich.”

The service is aimed at various target groups for different publication projects:

  • LMU researchers can publish their own monographs, anthologies, or conference proceedings.
  • LMU doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers publish their dissertations or postdoctoral theses as books at their own expense in the series “Dissertations of LMU” or “Postdoctoral Theses of LMU.”

The electronic version is published on the LMU repositories "Open Access LMU" and “Elektronische Hochschulschriften der LMU München” (Electronic University Publications of LMU Munich), permanently archived, and provided with stable and citable addresses (DOI and URN).

Open Journals LMU

Through Open Journals LMU, the University Library supports all LMU members in founding or taking over an open access journal with the software "Open Journal Systems (OJS)" software. The University Library takes care of hosting and data backup for the journal and offers an introduction and support for layout and the editorial system.
