Munich in magazine format: The exhibition “München unten rum” (Munich from below) reveals what Munich's subculture has been producing since the 1960s. From November 11, 2025, to April 12, 2026, a selection of Munich's subculture Outside the (Archive-)Box will be on display. For five months, the AAP will be a guest at the Philologicum, providing insight into this underground aspect of Munich's publishing landscape, especially those publications that see themselves as a critical counterpart to the everyday media of mass culture.

Experimental and subversive, progressive and political—zines and journals offer a glimpse of what all too often remains hidden above ground. On display are publications that reflect Munich's alternative and diverse scene in the past and present: from student magazines and punk zines to unconventional formats. Their content is as creative as it is critical, opening up alternative perspectives on literature, art, and social debates – with impulses that continue to have an impact today. The exhibition invites visitors to explore a small part of the AAP collection and thus five decades of Munich's (sub)cultural history.
