Exhibition "White Rose” (Weiße Rose)

“And their spirit lives on,” dissident students were certain after the execution of Hans and Sophie Scholl and Christoph Probst. Ludwig Maximilian University, where the members of the White Rose (Weiße Rose) studied, commemorates the resistance group in many ways today. However, this vibrant culture of remembrance took time to develop.

The exhibition uses documents from the Special Collections Department of the LMU Munich University Library to introduce the members at the heart of the White Rose (Weiße Rose). What did they study at the university, what did they read in private circles? Selected examples then show how the university has commemorated the White Rose since 1945.

The exhibition is a joint project of the LMU Munich University Library and the White Rose Foundation (Stiftung Weiße Rose).
