The Press Media Collection of the LMU Munich University Library

In addition to books and journals, the University Library also has an extensive collection of historical press media. This collection dates back to the collection of Karl d'Esters, the founder of Munich's newspaper studies program, and has been continuously expanded since 1924. The collection thus gives LMU members access to a comprehensive collection of journals and magazines.
The exhibition presents the press media collection in various thematic sections. From daily newspapers and illustrated magazines to youth and film magazines and a collection of GDR periodicals. A total of two hundred years of press history are covered. The exhibition is intended as an invitation to browse through our holdings beyond the exhibition visit and to use them for research and teaching projects.
