Nowadays, the production of jeans involves many stages in the manufacturing process. However, in order for consumers in the Western world to obtain them at affordable prices, workers in the manufacturing countries must pay the price, and the natural environment in these places is not spared either. The weavers of the fabrics are poorly paid and are often only 14 years old or even younger. Growing cotton requires a lot of water, which is in short supply in the growing regions, and the dyes used are harmful to nature and people.

This exhibition highlights these abuses and encourages visitors to reflect on them. It also explains ways in which social hardship and environmental problems can be avoided with the help of the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

This exhibition was created as part of a school project by third-year students at the vocational school for media professions training to become Fachangestellte für Medien- und Informationsdienste (FaMI) (Qualified Specialist in Media and Information Services), and was designed by Mara Bauch.
